Character(s): Zuko and anyone!
Content: Letting off steam
Setting: Castle Garden
Time: Daytime
Notes/Warnings: Honor
Zuko doesn't have the best coping mechanisms. He's prone to anger and frustration and taking them out on others, and he knows that. It's something he's coming to realize he doesn't particularly like about himself, but he hasn't quite figured out what the solution is.
Especially not with his constant frustration with his situation. It's like Ba Sing Se again, knowing he has something important to get back to but feeling like there's just no path to it. And maybe it's too late. Sozin's Comet may have already come and gone, without him playing any part in it. Thinking about that makes him angry, with this place, with the people in it, but most of all with himself.
Anyone who frequents the castle might find him outside near the gardens, practicing his firebending in an effort to work out his frustration and maybe to figure out a plan of action. He doesn't want to leave the castle permanently, not when his Uncle is content to stay, and not when that portal is the only one he knows for certain connects to home. But setting out for other places nearby, talking to what passes for people there... It has to beat sitting on his heels, waiting for some kind of miracle.

Emizel walked past the garden with little interest until he got a glimpse of the flames, and soon where they were coming from. It had been the same guy he bumped, quite literally, into before.
So he was a fire user, interesting.

When the demon drew close, he made sure to find his feet and turn in his direction, hands still up-- oh. It was that kid he met when he arrived. He lowered his hands slightly.
"Did you want something?" What are casual conversations.
no subject
"Huh? What no. Nothing," he said outright. Wasn't even trying to watch anyway, just got...a little distracted.
no subject
"I guess you haven't found anything either?"
no subject
But, since Emizel was here now, and questions were being asked, he had better say something more than that.
"So..you use fire too?"
no subject
"Yeah. You're a firebender?" He might have guessed with the kid's hood being on fire. Well, not that Zuko really has any idea how he's doing that, but firebending makes more sense than anything else.
no subject
"Ah..well I do have other elements besides that."
no subject
It was true the kid wasn't human, but still. Demons had to have their limits, too, didn't they?
no subject
"I mean exactly that," Emizel said. To demonstrate, maybe he do something. Since fire was already mentioned that won't really work, wind was the less destructive of the three. Yeah, let's go with wind then. He cast a little short gust, nothing too major, but enough to make a point.

Zuko actually took a quick step back from the spell, even if he was nowhere near it. Some combination of surprise and instinct, maybe, since the last time he saw Aang, they were still enemies.
"You're an airbender, too?" And he'd done it so casually, like it was no big deal where he came from.
no subject
"Around here, we usually just call it magic," that...'bender' stuff sounded a little weird. "There's about 4 different kinds of it, but with practice, anyone can learn them. Even humans, probably."
"I happen to know three of them."
no subject
"How can you act like it's nothing? People can't just do that where I come from. There's only one person in the entire world who can bend more than one element."
No, not going to stop calling it bending.
no subject
Still not quite getting what the big deal is, sorry Zuko.
no subject
For some people, like his father, being a bender at all made them dangerous enough.
no subject
"It's not that powerful. Well it can be, but it doesn't hold a candle to what my real power can do someday," and he is working on it!
no subject
"What are you talking about?" What real power?
no subject
"I-I am Death, after all..." Hellbringer of Lost Souls, Destroyer of All. That one.
no subject
no subject
"I get to send souls where they need to be after they die!"
no subject
Zuko didn't mean any offense by it. It just didn't seem like someone claiming to be 'Death' should stammer.

no subject
Maybe the kid is making all this up? Bending all the elements, helping people reincarnate... After all, all Zuko knows for certain is that he can airbend.
no subject
no subject
Still not a lot of sense, but more.
no subject
no subject
So, yes. Yes, it is.

Not many reapers actually encounter humans until the time comes. But still, most of them at least know they exist.

no subject
"It's not that bad," well, his Netherworld is still better. But hey.
no subject
no subject
"I mean hey, you said you only knew one element right? You probably could learn others while you're here."
That is, assuming magic and this 'bending' thing was even the same thing. Then again, anybody can use magic if they at least tried.
no subject
"However things work around here, I'm a firebender. That isn't going to change."
